Welcome to my AFC Wimbledon blog and in this post we will see how February went in the Npower Championship for my side.
I have finally got back onto FM after struggling to motivate myself to get onto my AFC Wimbledon save, I continue to go on with it but I find it harder and harder to want to despite our good season so far.
I am considering starting a new save but I wondered would you fellow readers like me to blog it or not or another alternative is that I move on from AFC Wimbledon in this current save and look for a new club. If I were too turn out doing a new save (blog it or not?) I will come back to the AFC Wimbledon story before the arrival of FM13 and have a finish off of the story. Moving on to this post though…

Fixtures
We have six games in the month, four at home and two away with one of them being an FA Cup 4th round replay. The first match of the month comes at home to Bristol City who are having a strong season so I think we may lose. The second match of the month comes at home to Blackburn Rovers and this is the FA Cup replay, I think this could be a loss considering the last match to them. The third match is away to Sheffield Wednesday and they are close to the relegation zone, I think we can win this. The fourth game comes at home to Norwich City who are having a decent season so I think we may draw. The penultimate match of the month is against Burnley away, they are top of the league so I think we will lose. The final match of the month comes against Charlton Athletic at home, they are down near the relegation places so I think we can win this one.

Results
The first match came against Bristol City and we got a decent draw. I call it decent because they are above us so anything against them is alright but it was disappointing because of the performance my lads gave. In the match we had one shot to there 15 which is not good enough. I will look to improve that but it does come as a surprise considering we usually give a good show at home.
We looked much better this time out as we managed to grab a win. We played much better than last match creating many chances and probably should have scored more but the defence also deserves credit keeping Sheffield Wednesday out. The first goal came in the 15th minute as Roberts crossed in for Manucho to finish off. We created many other chances in the first half but just couldn’t extend that lead but in the 62nd minute we made it 2-0 as Djilali passed into Lansbury who finished off. The pressure was straight back on us as 2 minutes later they made it 2-1. We held on for a good win though as we finished with ten men on the pitch following an injury to Todd Kane.
We have made it through to the fifth round of the FA Cup and will play Birmingham City. It was an even game and we took the early lead as Klasnic was set up by Balkestein and he fired home. We then spend most of the game fending off Blackburn Rovers having chances of our own and we set up out 5th round tie with Birmingham City when we made it 2-0 as Aluko played the ball across for Woods too tap home. A good performance overall from the team.
Norwich City Vs AFC Wimbledon postponed till 25th February & Burnley Vs AFC Wimbledon postponed till 4th March due to cup ties
We got a creditable draw against what was always going to be a tough Birmingham City side. We actually should have won the game as they got a man sent off early on. We took the lead on the stroke of half time as Manucho played in Klasnic who calmly finished off. Dominic Kennedy though fouled and they scored from the penalty spot 10 minutes into the second half. We had many a chance but missed far too many which assured this tie would go to a replay a Saint Andrews.
We finally came undone against a strong Norwich City side and we were really poor in fairness. They had a 2-0 lead within 37 minutes having had many other chances in between that. I wanted an improvement in the second half and when Djilali score in the 63rd minute I thought we were in with a chance and really Aluko should have made it 2-2 but his effort was too tame. It was left to them to make it 3-1 in the 70th minute and in the end they won by that score-line.
The final match of the month came against Charlton Athletic and we struggled to a draw in all fairness but eventually got it. They went ahead in the 40th minute following total domination against them. In the second half late on in the 84th minute we got the leveller as Djilali scored from a Tommy Spurr crossed in. The final match of the month ended as a draw.
Review of Results
In the month we actually did alright as we only lost one game. I think we have done well to get to the 5th round and in the Championship we have got some good results but eventually we ended the month with 2 draws, 1 win and 1 loss in the Npower Championship.
League Table
We continue to go strong in the league as we are placed in 9th position. I am starting to look at play-offs but I will be happy no matter what happens now. I would just like to be able to have at least a mid-table finish now as we have deserved it so far.
Player Ratings
I am not really focused on the ratings now as we are doing well but ratings never really show it. Overall the players are doing well and the list in is amount of apps orders.

I am going to repeat what I put at the start of the post just in case you missed it… at the moment I am struggling to motivate myself to continue on my AFC Wimbledon save at the moment despite doing decent
That is it for this post now following a decent month we move into March with a chance in the Npower Championship and in the FA Cup.
Thanks for reading.
Tim.

I’d say try something new and see how it feels. If you get more enjoyment at doing the new save then you can blog that if you want.
At the end of the day, playing FM and blogging about it should be fun. If it’s not, change. It’s only a game after all – I think we sometimes forget that when we start blogging about it.
An alternative is just to play another game for a while (or do something entirely different) then see how you feel when you come back to it. That’s worked for me a few times.
Other than that – it was a decent month. I still feel you should be in the play-offs and I hope you get there. I think the fact you are unsure about the save is having an effect. That’s not a bad thing – that’s just what naturally happens when you’re not 100% into something.

Thanks for the comment celticman… I have decided to carry on with the save for now and to be honest I am getting back into it slowly but surely… It was a decent month. Thanks again

A good month there Timbo it would have been nice to have seen you beat Charlton but it sounded like it was a hard game. As for the save it is always tough when you lose the motivation to continue. I think though at the end of the day it is down to you? If you feel you have brought Wimbledon as far as you can get them then a change will be good. I also think you should resign from this game save and find a club in the job center rather than starting from scratch, I have enjoyed reading this story but I am sure no matter what story you write I will enjoy it.

Thanks for the comment Martin… I agree the month was pretty good although could have been better in my eyes. I feel I am reaching an end with AFC Wimbledon but I will decide from looking at initial budgets because if it is poor I can not see my team getting much further, I will though carry on with this save. I am glad you have enjoyed the story so far, Thanks

Hello timbo, I would like you to carry on with this save and resign now or at the end of the season and then see what offers come for you. If one of them appeals to you take it and carry on if you don’t get a good enough offer in your eyes maybe you should start a new save but in the end it’s up to you. Whatever you do I’ll read

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the comment… I think I will be continuing with this save and come the end of the season I will see what initial budget I am give and decide from there as I am beginning to get tired of such poor financial stability. Thanks

Hey timbo,
It’s been a while since you last posted. I like your Wimbledon story but if you’re struggling to motivate yourself no point sticking with it. I would say go with sticking with your current save. That way after you resign you’re given the chance to really mull over what team you want to be rather than having to start a dozen new games after picking a team and then not wanting to be them.
Maybe you’re also just tired of blogging? It can become quite tedious and when it becomes a chore it does affect your motivation to play the game knowing you’ll have to write it up afterwards. I’ve quit for that reason a couple of times only to come back a few weeks later.

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the comment… I am glad you like the story and I think your right saying to stick with this current save, I will see how I feel at the end of the season. I also agree with your statement about getting tired of blogging although I think that is less of a reason because I have had break not long ago so I think I will continue on. Thanks

Glad to see you’re posting again, I really enjoy the Wimbledon story. It seems that this was not a bad month although there have been better ones. You seem to do particularly well against stronger teams. As for your wondering about starting a new story that’s really your call, but if you feel like getting bored on this one I’d say you better stop. However if you do stop you must first of all decide what kind of team you want to manage (meaning with what goals) and they way you want to do it
(stay for a long time or leave once you achieve your goals)
